Traditionally, club stability and forgiveness have been measured primarily by MOI. Cobra is the first company to introduce and optimize a lesser-known but critical metric: POI (Point of Inertia). POI measures clubhead rotation across all three axes— horizontal (MOI Y), vertical (MOI X), and toe-up/down (MOI Z)—that occurs during off-center impacts.

OPTM drivers are the first to optimize both MOI and POI through advanced shaping and strategic weight placement. This breakthrough design significantly reduces gear effect, delivering up to 23% tighter dispersion for longer, straighter shots on mishits.

OPTM X Improvements vs. Last Generation

By refining both MOI and POI through precise shaping and mass placement, the OPTM X model achieves an ideal balance of accuracy and forgiveness. Leveraging supercomputing and artificial intelligence, Cobra engineers reduced POI by over 50% while maintaining high MOI—a combination that is traditionally difficult to achieve.

The result is a dramatic reduction in side spin on off-center hits, producing drives that start straighter and finish closer to the intended target line.

Reshaped for Forgiveness

To optimize MOI and POI, mass is distributed more symmetrically around the center of gravity and across all three key axes. This design tightens mass around the CG to minimize diagonal resistance to rotation.

Using A.I.-driven simulations, Cobra engineers analyzed millions of impact locations to better understand gear effect and precisely position internal mass and adjustable weights in each driver model for maximum forgiveness.

Adjustable Weighting

The OPTM X driver features a descending weight system with two adjustable weights (11g and 3g). Each weight can be positioned in the back for neutral ball flight or in the toe for a fade-biased trajectory, allowing golfers to precisely tune shot shape and control.

A forged face insert powered by H.O.T. Face Technology enhances face flex to deliver faster ball speeds and improved distance across a larger area of the face, including on off-center strikes.
